Pandora UK closes after royalties demands
The robot-powered music streaming service Pandora will close its UK operation next week. The company blames high royalty demands from the two main UK collection agencies. The site will continue to stream to what it recognizes are US-based IP addresses, but will block connections to UK addresses from January 15.

Sri Lankan military detains French TV crew
Two French journalists, Capucine Henri and cameraman C. Siomon of France 24 news channel, were detained by the Sri Lankan police Christmas night for video-taping a Tamil family while being questioned by the Sri Lankan military at a road block near Boosa detention camp in Rathgama in Galle district. Expressing serious concern on the conduct of the Sri Lankan security establishment, the Free Media Movement (FMM), a Colombo based media watchdog, Tuesday said videoing a road block was not a national security issue. The FMM urged the police authorities to expedite the investigation and release the journalists in detention without further delay.

UTV in talks to buy FM104
UTV Radio is in exclusive talks with Communicorp Group to purchase Dublin's FM104 for around 50 million euros - according to a report in the Irish Times today. If Communicorp dispose of FM 104, it will leave the company free to purchase three stations from Emap, including national Today FM.12 Dec 2007
